Mazer x Comarch – Digital Twin of Data Center in Krakow
Background:
Comarch operates 16 data center facilities globally, responsible for collecting, processing, and protecting client data. However, physical tours of these facilities are often impractical. The Metaverse presented an ideal solution to overcome this challenge by allowing clients to explore the data center virtually.
Objectives:
Develop an interactive digital twin of the Krakow data center.
Provide an immersive virtual experience that demonstrates the infrastructure and technology of the data center.
Enable clients to participate in virtual tours and meetings, regardless of their location.
Key Features of the Digital Twin:
1. Detailed Virtual Environment:
The data center, including the server room, infrastructure, and conference room, is meticulously recreated on a 1:1 scale.
Visitors can navigate through the data center using VR goggles, exploring the facility as if they were physically present.
2. Interactive and Educational Experience:
The virtual tour includes detailed explanations of the technology and equipment used in the data center, such as UPS-support systems and power generators.
Clients can learn about the continuous and secure operations of Comarch’s data centers through this interactive experience.
3. Virtual Meetings and Tours:
The digital twin includes a virtual conference room with a presentation screen, enabling real-time meetings and presentations.
Clients from any location can participate in virtual tours, enhancing accessibility and convenience.
Implementation:
1. 3D Scanning and Photogrammetry:
Using a drone, the building was scanned, and a photogrammetric reconstruction was performed.
The 3D graphics team created a virtual model of the data center using hundreds of photographs, measurements, and 360-degree 3D panoramas.
2. Development and Integration:
The virtual model was integrated into the Mazer platform, ensuring seamless navigation and interaction.
The project team focused on creating a natural and interactive experience, allowing users to explore the virtual space easily.
