PKO BP VR Game – “Managing Household Budget”

Project Scope and Actions:

Mazer collaborated with PKO BP to develop an engaging VR game designed to teach children about managing household budgets. The game, set in a virtual apartment, involves groups of children handling daily life challenges, such as eating, paying bills, and dealing with unexpected events. Key gameplay elements include:

  • Daily tasks affecting life, entertainment, and social indicators.
  • A diary listing activities and enabling planning.
  • Two difficulty levels for different age groups (upper primary and high school).
  • Multiplayer mode for 1-4 players, with a 30-minute playtime.

Background:

PKO BP, following its launch on the Decentraland platform in 2022, aimed to expand its presence in the Metaverse and on gaming platforms like Fortnite and Roblox. The bank sought to create engaging and educational virtual spaces to attract and educate younger audiences about financial management and cybersecurity.

Objectives:

  • Create interactive educational and entertainment spaces.
  • Develop scenario-based games focusing on financial education, ecological awareness, and other values important to PKO BP.

Actions Taken:

1. Game Development:

  • Integrated with various VR headsets (Pico Neo 4, Meta Quest II, Meta Quest III, HTC Focus 3).
  • Enabled multiplayer mode with team rankings.
  • Designed interactive elements for enhanced user engagement.

2. Gameplay Experience:

  • Players start in a PKO lobby, select avatars, and form teams.
  • The game involves completing tasks over three in-game days, divided by sleep phases.
  • Tasks include daily routines and specific challenges, requiring teamwork and communication.

3. Educational Focus:

  • The game uses a virtual diary for task management and planning.
  • Players manage a virtual budget, using the IKO app for transactions and shopping.
  • The game teaches financial responsibility and cyber safety.

4. Interactive Features:

  • Players interact with objects using virtual hands or pointing beams.
  • The VR environment replicates a Warsaw panorama, enhancing immersion.

Summary:

Mazer and PKO BP successfully developed a VR game that not only entertains but also educates young players about managing household finances. The game has been played by over 4,000 students across Poland since its launch. This innovative approach supports PKO BP’s strategic goals for 2023-25, focusing on preparing for future challenges and engaging the younger generation in financial education.
